MARQUETTE — During this holiday season, it’s good to know that people aren’t the only ones who should be able to celebrate Christmas. The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter will be hosting Pet Photos with Santa this weekend at Mares–Z–Doats in Marquette.

The pictures are free, but customers are encouraged to donate $10 for a special Christmas memento.

“People will receive a 6×4 photo of their pet with Santa in a frame. So it’ll be just in time to have the keepsake for the holidays,” said event coordinator Lynn Andronis.

UPAWS will be working with Bethany Vaughn of Simple Beauty Photography, who will be taking the pet photos.

“Events like this, I really dive into the set, and also making sure that the image itself is a work of art,” said Vaughn. “My job is to raise funds for UPAWS, and I’m just honored to be able to have the talent and the ability to bring a new approach to Santa photos.”

The sessions will be Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., and offer a great chance to get your pets in the spirit of Christmas.
