Another arrest in connection with cocaine and child endangerment incident

MARQUETTE — On Friday, UPSET detectives and Marquette City Police officers arrested a 33 year-old male from Ishpeming Township at an undisclosed location in Marquette.

The man was arrested on charges related to possession of cocaine, four counts of child endangerment, weapons violation and maintaining a drug house. His name is being withheld and he is currently lodged at the Marquette County Jail.

UPSET detectives initiated this investigation on September 25th when they received information that two suspects were in possession of cocaine at their residence at Sunny Side Estates in Ishpeming Township. UPSET and Michigan State Police Troopers arrested 34 year-old Nakeesha Briggs on that day after they seized nearly 30 grams of cocaine, a firearm and evidence of drug distribution.

The living conditions in the residence were deemed to be unsuitable for the four children that were living at the residence and they were immediately placed into protective custody with Child Protective Services.

The investigation remains ongoing.
