Social security fraud suspect sentenced

ESCANABA — The last of the five people arrested by Escanaba Public Safety for Social Security fraud has been sentenced.

Nicole Gillis, 37, of Norway was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for one day served. Gillis also faces restitution fees of $9,009. She was originally charged with one count of false pretenses, $1,000 dollars or more, but less than $20,000.

Five people were originally arrested for their involvement in a social security fraud in October of 2016 in Delta County.
