MARQUETTE — Although Groundhog Day is technically today, a blind craft beer sampling will be held tomorrow, all in the name of Punxsutawney Phil.

The Community Foundation of Marquette County is inviting guests to the Marquette Regional History center for blind samples of brews selected by U.P. brewers. Samplers will be given tastes from a variety of local brewers such as, the Ore Dock, Blackrocks, and the Keweenaw Brewing Company – just to name a few. After having some samples, guests can vote on their favorite in three separate categories.

At the end of the night, each of the brews will be revealed.

“We’re going to put all the beers out without the brewers or the names of the beer posted. You’re going to sample just completely on taste alone and not be influenced by brewery you think is the best or what brewer you think might have been around longer,” said Board Secretary of the Community Foundation of Marquette County, Judy Vonck.

This sampling is a fundraiser through the Community Foundation of Marquette County and all proceeds will go towards grants for local non-profit organizations. It is encouraged to bring your driver’s license or personal identification to get in the event, which starts at 6 P.M. Tickets are going quickly but can still be purchased online or at the door.
