GLADSTONE — A 16–year–old male suspect from the Gladstone area was apprehended in connection to a stolen vehicle in Delta County Tuesday afternoon.

Gladstone Public Safety Officers say they responded to the 800 block of Delta Avenue in Gladstone around 5:00 p.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle. While they were taking the report, Escanaba Public Safety officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue North in Escanaba. Upon further investigation, it was found that the vehicle involved in the accident was the one stolen from Gladstone. The vehicle was heavily damaged in the crash.

The suspect was caught in Gladstone and is lodged at Bay Pines. Gladstone Public Safety Officers say the suspect allegedly hit a police officer, resulting in minor injury to the officer. The suspect was not injured.

The case has been sent to the Delta County Prosecutor and Probate Court for charges including stolen vehicle, assault to an officer, malicious destruction of property to a police vehicle, and making terrorist threats.
