The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community held its 36th annual Summer Powwow over the weekend and experienced an enormous turnout.

The festivities included the Grand Entrance, featuring hundreds of dancers showcasing cultural outfits.

Bringing together people from all over the community is not the only thing this event does.

“It has a really positive impact on this community I think because it’s more like educating people that don’t know much about our culture and it brings a lot of people together and different cultures together,” powwow committee member Cody Blue said.

A fry bread competition was also held, as well as several vendors offering many different arts and crafts displaying the prominence of Native American culture.
