LPGA Syemtra Tour returns to the U.P.
The LPGA Symetra Tour is scheduled to arrive in the Upper Peninsula in late June. This will be the fourth consecutive year that the Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris will host the three-day event known as the Island Resort Championship.
The Island Resort Casino and the Symetra Tour singed a new three-year deal in August to continue their partnership. Of the 20 stops the Symetra Tour will make in 2014, the Island Resort Championship is a favorite among the players as well as the LPGA Symetra Tour brass.
The tournament hands out two sponsor exemptions each year. One of those exemptions went to Marquette native Avery Rochester.
The Island Resort Championship takes place June 27-29. The 54-hole event has a purse of $125,000, which ranks as one of the highest purses on tour.
