A Sault Ste. Marie woman will spend 3 to 20 years in prison on meth charges. Twenty-one-year-old Shelby Gauthier was sentenced today in Chippewa County Circuit Court.

She pleaded guilty last month to maintaining a meth lab and possession of less than 25 grams of meth, which are both felonies, and maintaining a drug house, which is a misdemeanor. Gauthier originally faced 14 counts, but prosecutors dismissed 11 of those counts in exchange for her guilty plea to 3 of them.

Her co-defendant, 20-year-old Cody McCoy, backed out of a plea agreement in August. However, he now has a plea hearing scheduled for December 4th.

McCoy is facing 12 felony counts ranging from possession of meth to conspiracy to deliver meth or ecstasy. The Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement Team, or SANE, arrested the pair in March.
