Suspect named in Houghton murder

The man arrested in connection with the death of an 84-year-old Houghton woman Saturday has been arraigned in Houghton County on a count of open murder/homicide and an additional count of home invasion.

29-year-old Timothy Lee Cadeau of Houghton is accused of breaking into Geraldine Fouts’ apartment building on Montezuma Avenue Saturday morning and killing her.

If convicted, Cadeau could face life in prison on the murder charge, and 20 years on the home invasion count. He remains in the Houghton County Jail in lieu of $1 million dollars bond.

There was reportedly evidence of a break–in at the woman’s residence.

A competency exam has been ordered for Cadeau.  No further court dates will be set until that exam has been completed.
