UPGA men’s championship standings

Round one of the Upper Peninsula Golf Association men’s championship is in the books.

The 99th annual tournament is taking place at Indian Lake Golf and Country Club in Manistique.

Mike Nagy of Manistique is the tournament leader, shooting a three-under-par 68 on his home course.

Nagy is about to start his sophomore year on the golf team at the University of Tennessee.

Scott Lancour of Escanaba is in second place with an even-par 71.

Defending champion Jim Markell of Iron Mountain shot an opening-round 78.

The tournament continues through Sunday.
