Some Marquette County residents are still without power tonight after Thursday night’s storms.
UPPCO says 261 customers are still in the dark.
Almost all of the affected customers are in the Republic area.
Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post reported Thursday night that there were downed power lines near Fence River Road in Republic.
UPPCO says they’ve encountered many downed trees, branches, and broken utility poles.
They also say that if you see a downed power line, you should always assume the line is energized and stay away from it.
UPPCO is also asking anyone who loses power, or who sees a situation that looks potentially dangerous, to call them toll–free at 1–800–562–7809.
