Happy retirement from the VA

Two childhood friends from Iron Mountain who entered their working lives at the same time and place are now leaving working life at the same time and place.

Joanne Lindholm and Tina Freeman both graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1971.

They began working at what is now the Oscar Johnson VA Medical Center on the same day in October of ’71.

And now they’re retiring on the same day, too; Friday is their final day on the job.

Medical center staff held a retirement ceremony for Joanne and Tina this afternoon.

They’ve both worked in administrative support jobs, but they haven’t worked together much.

Joanne and Tina say they both hope to see each other much more often in retirement than they could while they were working.
