No cost adoption rate for cats, aged 3 & up

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) Pet of the Week is Laverne. She enjoys meeting and greeting people. She can often be found snoozing in a little ball in her kennel, but the minute you say hello she is up and ready for attention with a sweet face and a loud purr.

Laverne, and many other cats, can be adopted at no cost now through July 28th. It’s part of the “Free Over Three” Cat Adoption Event: all cats ages 3 years and older are available for adoption at no charge.

Included is their spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccines (including rabies vaccine), & general health check, a free “Animal Planet Your Adopted Cat” DVD, a full size bag of Dr. Tim’s Natural cat food, and more.

UPAWS is open daily, noon to 4pm, and is located at 84 Snowfield Road in Negaunee. For more information, call (906)475-6661 or visit www.upaws.org.
