NMU Golf Team finishes season at GLIAC Preview Meet

The Northern Michigan University golf team wrapped up the 2011-12 season with a 10th place finish at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preview Meet. The Wildcats finished the two-day tournament with a team score of 321 from Elyria Country Club.

Sophomore Jared Reid led the Wildcats with a two-day 78. He shot a 40 on Friday (April 27) and a 38 on Saturday (April 28), tying him for 27th. Freshman Colten Thewis was a shot back (39-40) in a tie for 31st. Both Reid and Thewis each had three birdies on the weekend.

Sophomore Mike Murphy had the team’s low nine-hole score with a 37 on Friday. He finished with an 81 in 42nd place.

Freshman Aryton Mantha (45-38) was two shots back of Murphy for 50th while junior Adam Huss (47-44) rounded out the scoring for the ‘Cats.

Ohio Dominican won the tournament with a team score of 301 while Panther Tyler Sebert was the low medalist with a 71.
