Speed may be the cause of an accident in Delta County last night that claimed the life of a teenager and left two others hospitalized.
18-year-old Devin DeGrave from Carney was dead on arrival at OSF St. Francis Hospital.
Two 16-year-old boys are reportedly in critical condition at Marquette General Health System.
One has been identified as Dane Messersmith from Bark River.
The Delta County Sheriff’s Department says the one-vehicle accident happened just before 6 last night on 13.75 Road in Wells Township, about three miles west of Escanaba.
Deputies say the unnamed 16-year-old was driving the trio to baseball practice in Escanaba.
An accident reconstructionist from the Michigan State Police is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation.
