MARQUETTE — A woman was taken to the hospital after her vehicle hit a rock and rolled over on McClellan Avenue in Marquette Tuesday night.

The Marquette Police Department said the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on N. McClellan Avenue near Grant Street.

A 53-year-old Marquette woman was driving a red 1995 Jeep northbound on McClellan. Police say her vehicle left the roadway and hit a rock outcropping, causing the vehicle to rollover.  The woman was trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by the Marquette Fire Department. She was transported to Marquette General Hospital for treatment.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.

MGH EMS and NMU Public Safety assisted the police and fire departments at the scene.
