Rockin' rock collectors in the Copper Country

Rock and mineral collectors from all over the world are spending this week in the Copper Country.  About 200 people are taking part in a retreat this week – and, that really rocks.

The Copper Country Mineral Retreat is put on by the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum in Houghton and Red Metal Minerals in Ontonagon.

Mineral collectors and amateur geologists will be taking part in a week long series of excursions.

The Keweenaw Peninsula is one of the best places for rock hunting.

Also included in this week is the Quincy Mine Hoist Rock Swap on Wednesday and the Benefit Banquet put on by the Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club on Thursday.

The weekend wraps up with the three-day Rock and Mineral Show at the Houghton Elementary School and the Mineral Sale at the Museum on Saturday.
