Police investigate impersonation incident
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident in which someone may have tried to pose as a police officer. It happened Saturday evening, January 21, 2012, at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office were called to an incident where a young female driver on County Road 581 in Ely Township was signaled to pull over by a vehicle with a red oscillating light on the roof and a spot light. The driver told police she was about to pull over when she realized the vehicle was not a marked police vehicle. She did not stop, but rather drove south on County Road 581 to her residence.
She told police she had seen the vehicle parked on the side of the road near County Road PRG in Tilden Township with the lights off.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored truck, possibly an S-10 type pick up, with three occupants. It may have a spot light and a red oscillating light on the dashboard. The vehicle was last seen heading into the Flat Rock road area.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public. If you have information about this vehicle, the people who may have been inside it, or witnessed this type of activity in the County Road 581 area, contact the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office at (906) 225-8435.
