NMU’s Gruber named Player of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. – Northern Michigan University senior guard Lauren Gruber was named GLIAC North Player of the Week after the Wildcats defeated Saginaw Valley 62-46 and Hillsdale 57-54 on the road.

Gruber opened the weekend with a double-double against the Cardinals scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She followed that up with a game-high 24 points in the win over Hillsdale where she shot 11-13 (.846) from the charity stripe. Gruber finished the weekend averaging 20.5 points per game while shooting 11-22 (.500) from the field and 15-17 (.882) from the free throw line.

Northern Michigan hosts a pair of GLIAC games this weekend when they take on Lake Superior State Thursday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. and Northwood Saturday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m.
