New Bogus Check Scam in Delta County
Police want to let the community know about a scam involving genuine-looking checks.
State troopers from the Gladstone post say they’re hearing from Delta County residents who’ve received the checks.
The checks often have the names of legitimate companies on them.
They’re accompanied by a letter saying you’ve won a large sum of money.
The checks are bogus, and the businesses listed on them are being ripped off, too.
The checks appear to be originating from Canada, specifically Montreal.
State troopers are also helping the Delta County Sheriff’s Department track down a scam phone caller.
The caller recently took a county resident for more than $16,000 by pretending to be her grandson.
