Negaunee Woman Charged with Two Ohio Bank Robberies

An Upper Michigan woman is in police custody in Ohio, accused of two bank robberies in the Toledo area. 21 year old Ashley Dawn Elvetici, of Negaunee, was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Thursday morning. She was arrested Wednesday night for a robbery that occurred Wednesday morning.

According to the FBI, photos from the Key Bank show Elvetici at about 9:07 a.m. Wednesday morning. She reportedly passed a note demanding money from a teller and was given an undisclosed amount of money. Police say she got away in a hunter green Ford Taurus. The vehicle was recovered and Crime Stopper tips led police to Elvetici at a nearby motel.

Elvetici was arrested Wednesday night at around 10 pm on 2 counts second degree felony robbery.

She is also charged with the robbery of another bank in Toledo on January 26. Bank surveillance from that incident shows a woman who appears to be Elvetici.

Northwest Ohio FBI agent Dave Dustin spoke with ABC 10 News Director Cynthia Thompson Thursday morning. He said no weapon was seen in either of the robberies. Dustin confirmed eyewitness accounts that the suspect wore the same long black wig and the same boots in both bank robbery incidents..

Elvetici is in custody at the Lucas County Correctional Center on $150,000 cash bond on the two Ohio felony bank robbery charges. She requested a public defender in court Thursday, claiming she was indigent.

Federal charges are likely as the investigation continues. Elvetici also has a $2,000 bond set for a four minor traffic violations.

A preliminary hearing has been set for February 9th in Toledo.
