Names Released in Shooting Incident

Police have released the name of the Negaunee man arrested last week in a shooting incident from a little more than a week ago.

It was reported at the Marquette General Hospital emergency department early on March 31st.

29 year old Shane Steven Treloar of Negaunee was arrested April 4th.

He entered a plea of ‘not guilty” in 96th District Court in Marquette today.

He’s charged with “careless discharge of a firearm causing injury or death.”

The charges stem from an incident at a camp in Powell Township.

The shooting victim Eric Thomas, 37, of Marquette, is recovering.

Careless discharge of a firearm causing injury or death is a high court misdemeanor punishable by up to two years and or a fine of $2,000.

Treloar will have a preliminary hearing in the case April 23rd.
