Ironwoon Township Native Laid To Rest

Loved ones and friends are gathering in Gogebic County tonight.

They’re pay respects to one of the California police officers killed by the same man 2 weeks ago in 2 separate shootouts.

Sergeant Ervin Romans was in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the Oakland Police.

But he was an Ironwood Township native.

His visitation starts at 5pm Central time at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood.

And his funeral service is tomorrow morning at 11 at the Memorial Building.

The shootings began after a routine traffic stop.

Police say a parolee with a long criminal record opened fire, killing 2 officers.

Hours later, he also killed 2 members of a SWAT team who tracked him down to an apartment.

Sergeant Romans was one of those SWAT team members.

He was 43 years old.
