Baseball: Mid Pen Championship game set

CHANNING – The Mid Pen Championship game will feature two teams with the same nickname. The Kingsford Blues and the Marquette Blues will battle for the conference championship on Wednesday in Channing.

Both teams won their respective semifinal games on Tuesday. Marquette defeated Ishpeming, 11-1 in five innings. The Blues had eight hits in the game. McKinley Larson and Levi Underwood each drove in two runs.

Kingsford defeated Channing, 5-4 in eight innings. Kingsford scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead. Channing tied the game, forcing extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Wes Paupore came through with the game winning RBI single, giving Kingsford the win.

The Blues vs. Blues battle has first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday.
