Former armed robbery suspect sentenced on drug charge
L’ANSE — One of the former suspects in an armed robbery case in Baraga County has been sentenced.
Donovan Waupoose, 22, of Stephenson was sentenced to a year in jail with credit for a year already served. Baraga County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph O’Leary says he’s being extradited to Brown County, Wisconsin to face a charge of a probation violation there.
O’Leary allowed Waupoose to plead guilty to a lesser charge, delivery or manufacture of marijuana, in exchange for his testimony against his uncle and former co-defendant, Bernard Fish. Fish was convicted and was recently sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison.
The two robbed a house in Watton in August of last year that they believed was home to a marijuana grow operation. Fish and Waupoose were also both accused of falsely claiming to be U.S. Marshals during the incident.
