Twin Girls Save Gladstone Man from Truck Plunge

A pair of twin girls help save their father after his truck falls through thin ice.

State Police from the Gladstone Post say it happened in the Bayview area of Escanaba Township a little after 6:30 last night.

A 43-year-old Gladstone man was with his twin 10-year-old daughters out on the ice to check out the shanties that were on the water.

His truck fell through the ice surface.

All 3 escaped through the rear window as the truck sank.

When the father couldn’t walk any further toward the highway, one of his daughters stayed with him while the other went to get help.

All 3 were treated at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba for hypothermia and released.

The truck is still mostly submerged in about 10 feet of water.

Police are asking anyone who sees it to stay away because the ice is still highly unstable.

They’re still investigating, but they believe alcohol was a factor.
