Welding exhibit coming to state fair
The American Welding Society’s Careers in Welding exhibit is coming to the U.P. State Fair.
The Careers in Welding trailer has been in operation since 2011.
It will be in Escanaba at the fair from august 10th to the 22nd.
The exhibit is hosted in a 53-foot trailer and gives guests the chance to try welding using a virtual simulator.
Those who participate with the simulator can compete for the highest score, which has a $1,000 scholarship prize.
In 2019, the organization awarded more than 39,000 dollars in awards during the exhibit’s tour. Program manager Stephanie Hoffman says they are excited to do that again.
The display will also feature the Metal Maiden, which is a metal art sculpture in the likeness of the statue of liberty.
