SOS Jocelyn Benson extended the hours of operation for vehicle registrations and driver licenses

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson will extend the hours of operation for vehicle registrations and driver licenses at all branches by one hour.

Starting July 19th thru September 30th branch offices on Monday and Thursday will be open from 9 a.m. thru 6p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday offices will open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

Benson said it will provide 120,000 thousand additional in-person services.

Benson’s request for additional funding was not approved by the legislature.

She hopes to launch mobile offices that will travel to large gatherings of residents including senior centers.

She said since July 1st most residents have been required to renew their State id’s or driver’s licenses every 12 years rather than rather than 8 years. This can be done online, by mail, at a self-service kiosk or in-person.
