Motorcycle driver in critical condition after hitting fallen tree
ALGER COUNTY — One motorcycle rider is in critical condition after hitting a fallen tree earlier today in Alger County.
At approximately 3:30 pm the Alger County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a single–vehicle motorcycle accident on H–58 near Ross Lake Road.
After investigation, it was discovered that two motorcycles were traveling east on H–58 in a single–file fashion.
A large tree fell between the two vehicles, into the oncoming path of the rear motorcycle.
The operator of the second motorcycle was ejected about 250 feet before coming to rest in the roadway.
The injured operator was transported to UPHS Marquette, where he is in critical condition.
The operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and their name is being withheld until proper family is notified.
Alger County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by Pictured Rocks National Park Rangers, Alger County EMS, and the Munising Township Fire Department.
