New roof is complete for Ishpeming Middle/High School

ISHPEMING — After 3 months of construction Ishpeming Middle / High School has a new copper roof.

In late spring the industrial arts roof sustained heavy wind damage.

This was first time they replaced the roof in 100 years.

It was important for the school and city to keep the roof the way it was done 100 years ago, but also having it ready for the new school year.

“It was very important to us to get the scaffolding down before the children return to school for safety reasons. We can’t have people working 35 feet above the heads of passing students. We got it done the day before. The Friday before school started we had all the scaffolding down. Just slipped it in under the wire,” said Dan Perkins, President of Dan Perkins Construction.

This is one of the proudest projects that Dan has ever done.

The insurance company did cover the expenses of the roof, so it was no cost to the tax payers.
