Nearly 40 animals removed from Ironwood woman’s home

IRONWOOD — Late Tuesday afternoon, a 37-year-old Ironwood woman was taken into custody and charged with Felony Animal Cruelty, and a Misdemeanor Failure to Provide Care.

Crystal Marie Lotzer was holding a large number of animals inside her home that were not being taken care of. 4 dogs, 7 cats, 20 rabbits, 2 ducks, a raven, seagull, and a snake were all removed from the interior of her home.

She remains lodged at the Gogebic County Jail on a $30,000 bond. Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Department of Natural Resources and by personnel from HOPE Animal Shelter.
