IRON MOUNTAIN — Did you miss the suicide hill ski jumps a few weeks back? There’s another chance to catch some jumpers this weekend.

The Kiwanis Ski Club is holding their 79th annual continental cup ski jump competition. The UP’s largest tailgating event will feature jumpers from over ten different countries.

“The ski field, in all the years I’ve been here, almost 35 years, these are probably the best ski jumpers we’ve had from Europe and America. Unbelievable, the talent here this weekend,” Said Kiwanis Ski Club President Nick Blagec.

Conditions are perfect heading into the weekend, and it looks like the record of 471 feet might be in jeopardy.

“I have a sneaking suspicion that just might go this weekend,” said Blagec. “I really do, because I wanted them a few times yesterday and, wow. It’s going to be the greatest show in the U.P.

If you get a chance, be sure to check it out, and keep an eye out for some record breaking jumps.
