MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette has been ranked as the 7th smartest city in the state of Michigan, as determined by Zippia, a website that provides career advice for recent college graduates.

Zippia studied the 93 cities in the Wolverine state that had a population of over 10,000 people. It focused on the percentage of adults over age 25 with at least a college degree and the percentage of high school dropouts ages 15-17 for the 93 largest cities in the state with data.

The city of Marquette had a college degree percentage of 36.1%, and a high school dropout rate near zero.

Data came from the latest American Community Survey from the U.S. Census.

The smartest city, according to the website, is Birmingham, with a degree percentage of 77.18%.
