Vehicles heavily damaged in accident
IRON MOUNTAIN — Two-vehicles received heavy damage after a personal injury accident on Wednesday.
Around 3:52 P.M., emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 2 and Ridgeview in Iron Mountain on a report of a two-vehicle personal injury accident. Upon arrival, it was found that an eastbound vehicle on U.S. 2, driven by a 33-year old female driver, stopped for the red light in the intersection rather than before the stop line. This vehicle was then struck by another vehicle driven by a 65-year old female driver, pulling onto U.S. 2 attempting to turn westbound from the Walmart side of the intersection.
The driver of the vehicle that stopped in the intersection along with her 21-year old passenger, received minor injuries. The 65-year old driver of the other vehicle was left uninjured.
The 33-year old driver was cited for the red light violation and both vehicles received heavy damage.
