U.P. Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018 announced
ESCANABA — The U.P. Sports Hall of Fame executive council has announced their selections for the class of 2018.
They are former Northern Michigan football coach Herb Grenke, former Gladstone boys basketball coach and current St. Ignace girls basketball volunteer aide Jack Ingalls, recently retired Menominee boys basketball coach Pete Pericolosi, former Negaunee multi–sport coach Karen Plaisier and former college basketball coach Jim Karabetsos of Marquette.
Joining them will be the late Walfred (Mike) Mickelson who coached multiple sports at Eben and Munising, former Ironwood and University of Minnesota golfer Ingrid Gallo, former L’Anse running back Don Michaelson, Westwood and Michigan Tech basketball standout Sarah (Stream) Stanek and the late Rich McCarthy of Kingsford, a former quarterback at NMU who also coached at two schools in Muskegon.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will be on May 12th, 2018 at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris.
