ISHPEMING — Feeding America brought the mobile food pantry to Ishpeming earlier today with over 15,000 pounds of food.

Fruit, vegetables, dairy, and other food items filled up bags of an estimated three hundred families from the area. The Ishpeming VFW is now taking over as the new location with the pantry being set up in the parking lot between their building and Brogie’s Tavern.

“We’re not just a veterans organization, we’re a community organization,” said Ishpeming VFW Post Commander Daniel Verville, “we have to do so much for the community and we’re glad to do it. We’re doing everything we can to keep Feeding America in Ishpeming.”

Verville added that the mobile food pantry will continue to return to this location once a month for the proceeding future.

Volunteers are always welcome, and can call the Ishpeming VFW at 906-486-4856.
