U.P. runner looks to win national contest
NEGAUNEE — An Upper Peninsula runner is in the running to be on the cover of Runner’s World Magazine.
Neal Collick is a semifinalist in the Runner’s World Cover Search. Collick is one of 100 semifinalists that have a chance to be on the cover.
The 35-year-old Negaunee resident started running four years ago when a friend asked him to run a half marathon. Since then, he’s been hooked.
Collick runs approximately 60-70 miles per week. The former U.S. Marine says that running has changed his life.
“Running has done so much for me… building a relationship with my son, it’s also helped with my health condition, Ulcerative Colitis, and it helped me transition from the civilian life from the Marine Core,” said Collick.
“I know it’s a long shot, but there’s so much that comes with it. The thing I would be most excited about is a trip to New York for the New York Marathon, because that’s a really hard one to get into,”he added.
The 100 semifinalists will be whittled down to 10 finalists. To vote for Neal, click HERE for a direct link.
