Man arrested for breaking and entering

MARQUETTE — A Gwinn man has been arrested for allegedly taking $10,000 from a Marquette residence.

On July 25, the Marquette City Police Department were called to investigate a breaking and entering complaint.  Police discovered that someone broke into a residence, broke a safe, and stole more than $10,000 in cash.

Through their investigation, police found a large portion of the money that was stolen at a residence in Gwinn. 25-year-old Robert Wallace Oakland of Gwinn was arrested Wednesday by the Forsyth Township Police Department.

Oakland has been arraigned on two felony counts: Home Invasion – 2nd Degree and Safe Breaking. He is due back in court for his preliminary hearing on Aug. 18.
