M.A.P.S. Foundation presents final check to Marquette area schools

An “A” for effort and a job well done by Marquette Area Public School (M.A.P.S.) Board Foundation. The school board meeting ended tonight with M.A.P.S. Foundation presenting good news for area fifth graders.

The Marquette Area Public School Foundation was given an assignment and after months of hard work, they turned in their completed homework assignments. The foundation paid for 270 ‘Chromebooks’ for all fifth grade students.

“Judy Vohn, took on the chairmanship and we were able to raise the $79,000 that we needed to purchase those books in about 6–8 months. the community donated the money and it is good to have it done and come to a completion,” said Tom Baldini, MAPS Foundation President.

The last check for just over $29,000 was presented and Baldini says watching the students with the computers was amazing.

“Some of us have gone there to see the students and it’s a generational thing, they are into the technology, they are comfortable with it, the teachers are comfortable with it, they know how to do the lesson plans with it,” said Baldini. “The students are very much into it and it’s great, technology is here and we had to do this for the students.”

More checks were presented tonight and ABC 10 News Now will have full recap tomorrow.
