Woman injured after rear-ending City snow grater

One woman was injured after rear-ending a snow removal vehicle in Hancock early Monday morning.

Officers from the Hancock City Police Department say that it happened around 1:15 a.m., when a woman traveling northbound in a Jeep SUV along US-41/South Lincoln Drive near Michigan Street struck the rear of a City of Hancock snow grater, which was also traveling northbound.

The crash resulted in extensive damage to the SUV. The woman was extracted from her vehicle by EMTs and taken to Portage Hospital, where she was treated and released for her injuries. The snow grater received minor damage.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

The Hancock City Police Department was assisted at the scene by Mercy Ambulance.
