NMU Football players receive honors from GLIAC
Northern Michigan had three football players selected to
the 2011 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second team.
Junior left tackle Jace Daniels was selected second team on the offensive end while senior nose guard Matt Forward and junior defensive tackle Zach Anderson were selected on the defensive end. Five other Wildcats were named honorable mention.
Daniels, a 6-5, 287-pound native of Escanaba, Mich., anchored the NMU
offensive line. He appeared in all 11 games this season as the ‘Cats ran the spread offense for the second season.
Forward is a 6-0, 298-pound native of Zeeland, Mich. He was second on the team with 57 total tackles. He registered 22 solo tackles and 35 assisted tackles. Forward was tied for the team lead with 9.5 tackles for loss and also had two sacks. He was named GLIAC honorable mention in 2009.
Anderson, a 6-3, 260-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., led the ‘Cats with 68 total tackles. He had 28 solo tackles and 40 assisted tackles. Anderson led the team with four sacks and was tied with Forward for the team lead with nine and half tackles for loss. He was named to the second team in 2010.
Seniors, running back Jared Buss, quarterback Carter Kopach and defensive back Jacob Lehmann were honorable mention selections, along with sophomore wide receiver Christian Marble-King and junior running back Prince Young.
