U.P. State Reps vote for dredging bills
State Representatives Scott Dianda and John Kivela both voted in favor of two House bills today that change the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s dredging permit process.
Michigan House Bills 4398 and 4440 reduce the permit fee from $1,500 to $50 for dredging material from both the Great Lakes and inland lakes.
House Bill 4399 also gives an expedited dredging permit process under emergency conditions.
The package of bills now moves to the state Senate for consideration.
