MARQUETTE — A well established U.P. Hospice care center has just opened up a new location in Marquette, giving them quicker access to highways and even more patients.

The U.P. Home Health and Hospice Care held a ribbon cutting ceremony today celebrating the grand opening of their new location. Located on Ridge Street in the old JT’s Shaft Bar building, members of the hospice center had their work cut out for them when it came to renovations.

“There was a lot that needed to be done both externally and internally. We had to make fiber optics and we had to put in all the computer wiring and redo a lot of the electrical, it’s just amazing what had to be done,” said Founder/Owner Cindy Nyquist.

With another location nestled in Ishpeming, this new spot will catch more drivers attention and is easier to see from the road.

“We felt we wanted to same visibility in Marquette and when this property became available, we grabbed it. Its been a lot of hard work but it has been wonderful and exciting to do it,” said Nyquist.

The Hospice Care plans to keep doing what they have been since 1973, and that is bringing top quality health care services to people around Marquette County.
