Two Tech Football players get their shot in the NFL

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Two former Michigan Tech football players—Todd Storm Calumet, Mich.) and Drew Vanderlin (Green Bay, Wis.)—will get a chance to earn spots on NFL rosters in 2012. Both players have been invited to participate in team mini-camps May 11-13.
Storm has been invited to the Detroit Lions’ event, while Vanderlin will try out for his hometown Green Bay Packers.
Both players were a huge part of Michigan Tech’s GLIAC-leading defense in 2011. The Huskies allowed just 286 yards and 17.7 points per game—league bests in both categories.
Storm, who posted 68 tackles and 7.5 sacks on the season, earned American Football Coaches Association All-America honors along with GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year accolades for the second straight season.
Vanderlin was an All-GLIAC First Team selection for the second consecutive season in 2011 after recording 33 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
The two players will look to join former Husky Joe Berger (2001-04) among the ranks of current NFL players. Berger, a seven-year NFL veteran, will begin his second season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2012.
