Two Injured in Marquette Twp. Accident
An elderly woman and her granddaughter were taken to the hospital after a severe two-car accident in Marquette Township this afternoon.
It happened on US-41 just before 1:30.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says a 72-year-old Gwinn woman driving a 2011 Buick LaCrosse pulled out of the Lowes parking lot exit into the path of a westbound 2004 Cadillac Escalade.
The Gwinn woman and her 23-year-old granddaughter had to be extricated from the car.
They were taken to Marquette General Hospital.
The older woman was ticketed for failure to yield.
The driver of the SUV, a 39-year-old Marquette woman, was treated at the scene.
Police say that safety belts were used and that alcohol is not a factor in the incident.
