It’s in March, it’s a tournament, and it’s full of madness.  That’s right!  The annual TiViTz tournament has come to Houghton. ABC Ten’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen has more on this math–based competition.

Mix chess, Chinese checkers, and math and you get TiViTz, a competition that is the brain child of Michigan Tech alumna Catherine Clark.

More than 250 students in grades 4th through 7th from the Western Upper Peninsula took part in today’s tournament on the campus of Michigan Tech.

TiViTz is designed to get students to enjoy math.

The top five students in each grade are named the winners but in TiViTz, everyone wins if they find math to be fun.
