Swimmer Shooting Suspect Drops Insanity Plea

The Kingsford man accused of the Menominee River swimmer shootings has dropped his insanity plea.

38-year-old Scott Johnson did that during a hearing in Marinette, Wisconsin this morning.

He’s entered a not guilty plea.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice said last week he was probably going to do this.

Johnson faces 3 counts of 1st-degree intentional homicide, 6 counts of attempted intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon and 1 count of sexual assault.

His trial is still scheduled to start in mid-March.

But the court will be sending out jury questionnaires next week.

that’s because one of the planned witnesses will need to appear before the rest of the trial starts.

He’s in the military and is scheduled to be deployed to Iraq by then.
