State Police participate in bus safety initiative

LANSING — Motor carrier officers from the Michigan State Police are participating in a two-week initiative to help make sure passenger buses are safe for travelers.

Starting Sunday, troopers will be promoting safety and security on the roads by inspecting motor coaches for proper maintenance. They will also be verifying driver qualifications and compliance with hours-of-service requirements. The initiative is being led by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and the MSP is just one of many law enforcement groups participating.
