Salvation Army Needs Bell Ringers

With just three and a half weeks before Christmas, the holly jolly holiday is looking a little slim for several branches of the Salvation Army in Upper Michigan.

Bell ringers have been manning the Salvation Army red kettles for a solid two and a half weeks, but there aren’t enough volunteers this year to get the job done.

This season, 13 different locations are in need of coverage.

Proceeds from the kettles assist community members in need during the holidays but also throughout the year.

The money often helps with rental and utility assistance.

Last year $83,000 was raised through the red kettles in marquette county alone.

The goal this year is $90,000.

However the Salvation Army is in need of bell ringers to get the job done.

Right now, of the 600 hours of bell ringing opportunities, volunteers are signed up for only 50.

If you’re interested in helping, you can contact your local Salvation Army.
