NMU’s Coreau to sign with Red Wings

It appears that Northern Michigan University goaltender Jared Coreau is turning pro, but he isn’t going very far.

Bob MacKenzie of TSN Canada is reporting tonight that the NMU goalie will sign a contract with the Detroit Red Wings.

Coreau just finished his junior year with the Wildcats, in which he started all 38 games. Coreau posted a 2.70 goals against average and a save percentage of .919 this past season.

The Ontario, Canada native will most likely sign an Amateur Tryout deal and report to Grand Rapids and play for the Red Wings American Hockey League Affiliate, the Griffins.
